Being a guest has exactly two rules and a lot of freedom after that. The rules: do not wear white, and do not outshine anyone standing at the front. Everything else is yours.
Leave ivory at home
This is worth saying plainly because it catches people out. Ivory, cream, champagne and any near neighbour of them belong to the bride for the day, whatever the invitation says about the dress code. If a dress you love comes in ivory, take the other colourway.
Colour that photographs well
The Elowen Maxi in Dusty Blue is chiffon, so it moves in the wind rather than fighting it, which matters more at an outdoor ceremony than anyone expects. The Maren Maxi in Blush is a linen blend, cooler for a summer afternoon, and in Noir it works for an evening reception without reading as funeral.
Dress for the ground you will stand on
Grass, gravel and cobbles decide your shoes before the outfit does, and a long hem on a lawn is a different proposition than a long hem on a dance floor. Ask where the ceremony is, then pick the heel.
You will be in the photographs for decades
Which is an argument for a colour you actually like rather than whatever is current. The couple will look back at these pictures for a long time, and so will you.
